The Walt Disney Company has announced another venture to help the studio capitalize on the ever growing hunger for seeing movies through digital means. The studio announced on Tuesday that it is launching Disney Movies Anywhere, a venture with Apple that will allow consumers to watch any Disney movie they buy on any Apple device.

Disney Movies Anywhere gets a sizable boost with the help of Apple. Disney has refrained from joining the other studios for UltraViolet, a similar cloud-based service that is not supported by Apple. Therefore, even though UltraViolet copies are included with nearly every Blu-ray today, the system has not caught on as greatly as the other studios would hope.

Disney also has stronger ties to Apple than any other studio. Disney CEO Bob Iger is on Apple’s board, notes The New York Times.

Walt Disney Studios President Alan Bergman called Disney Movies Anywhere an “exceptional consumer experience.” Chief Technology Officer Jamie Voris added in a statement that “the intuitive layout of the website and app creates an easy and enjoyable browsing environment.”

According to TheWrap, the service will start with 400 titles available immediately. That includes Frozen, which is still in theaters and is close to $1 billion worldwide. If you sign up early, you get a free copy of the Pixar hit The Incredibles.

Disney has certainly embraced the digital world. It also has a deal with Netflix that even includes exclusive programming.
