Dolly Parton will be playing in the Glastonbury Festival on June 29.
According to the Associated Press, festival programmer Emily Eavis told the BBC, “It's been something we've been wanting to happen for a long time. And she finally said yes."
Dolly is known for her work in 9 to 5. She also built the popular amusement park Dollywood in Nashville. Her blend of country music and pop music had made her a fan favorite for decades. She has had 26 songs reach the Billboard charts including, “Islands in the Stream.” She has gold, platinum, and multi-platinum albums to her name.
This year’s Glastonbury Festival will also include Debbie Harry of Blondie, according to The Guardian. Arcade Fire is the first confirmed headliner. Lily Allen, Warpaint, and Suzanne Vega have also been secured for the festival.
Last year, 120,000 tickets for the June 25-29 event sold out before any acts were announced. Many popular musical acts joined the festival last year including Rolling Stones, Mumford & Sons, Arctic Monkeys and Kenny Rogers.
