After celebrating a 30 year anniversary at New York Fashion Week, Donna Karan is rumored to be stepping down as creative director for DKNY.
According to the Fashion Times, DKNY denies that Karan is leaving the label, but many believe that the designer's emotional bow at the end of her show last Monday might be her last.
“Donna is the chief designer of the company," a DKNY spokesperson told the New York Post. "Anything else should be considered a rumor."
The 65-year-old Karan has long been an icon in the fashion industry.
She launched her now famous Donna Karan New York clothing line in 1985. Three years later, she created the DKNY line for younger woman. Two years after that she created her denim-inspired collection, DKNY Jeans. And DKNY for men was launched in 1992, a year after the signature line was presented.
In 1997, Karan left her CEO position, but continued as chairwoman and designer for the line. Time will tell if Karan is ready to leave those positions behind now as well.
