For the first time since her revelation of the sexual abuse she encountered as a child from adoptive father, Woody Allen, Dylan Farrow is finally speaking out about her open letter posted last week.
The 28-year-old daughter of Mia Farrow and Woody Allen will discuss with People Magazine in its newest issue how difficult it was to write a letter of such magnitude.
In the interview, she discusses how it feels to finally open up about the violation she felt at seven years old from the director and why she chose to divulge her secret past.
“It took all of my strength and all of my emotional fortitude to do what I did this week in the hope that it would put the truth out there,” she says. “That is my only ammunition. I don’t have money or publicists or limo or fancy apartments in Manhattan.”
She continues saying, “All I have is the truth and that is all I put out there.”
On Feb. 1, Farrow published the open letter to a blog with The New York Times revealing her dark past. She says she thought “long and hard” before actually posting the story.
This week, Allen’s lawyer released a statement to CNN stating that Farrow’s allegation was false. However, the estranged father is now asking the newspaper that published the original letter for the permission to write his own response.
Farrow also told People, “My intention in writing that piece was to put the truth on paper from a voice that was not able to speak before.”
