An 84-year-old nun was sentenced Tuesday to nearly three in prison and two peace activists were sentenced to more than five years for breaking into a nuclear weapons plant.

According to the Reuters, a federal judge sentenced Sister Megan Rice to 35 months in prison and Michael Walli and Greg Boertje-Obed to 62 months in prison for breaking into the Tennessee defense facility where enriched uranium for nuclear bombs is stored.

The Washington Post reported that three weeks ago the same judge ordered the trio to pay $53,000 in restitution for damaging the site’s security apparatus and defacing a storage facility.

U.S. District Court Judge Amul Thapar gave the group sentences lower than what the government requested and did acknowledge the group’s efforts and good work, the Post notes.

Back in July of 2012 the three broke into the facility and hung banners and painted peace messages in restricted areas.

Each of them can appeal the ruling if they chose to.
