Emma Watson has signed on to star in a new thriller titled Regression. It will pair her with Ethan Hawke and gives her the opportunity to work with The Others director Alejandro Amenabar.
Regression will be released by TWC-Dimension and is scheduled for 2015, reports TheWrap. MOD Entertainment’s Fernando Bovaira is producing with Christina Piovesan. Amenabar wrote the script. Filmnation Entertainment will take care of international sales.
The Hollywood Reporter notes that there’s been no word on the film’s plot. However, it is guaranteed to be a return to thrillers for Amenabar, who directed Nicole Kidman in The Others. He also has an Oscar win on his resume for his foreign language film The Sea Inside (2004).
Watson is best known for her role in the Harry Potter series, but like co-star Daniel Radcliffe, she has done an exceptional job making a name for herself outside the franchise. In 2013, she appeared in This Is The End and The Bling Ring and will next be seen in Darren Aronofsky’s Noah.
Meanwhile, BuzzFeed reports that a photo of a self-portrait Watson allegedly painted has surfaced and it could prove that she’s talented in more areas than acting.
