Production has been halted on the Gregg Allman biopic, Midnight Rider. The movie, based on Allman’s memoir, My Cross to Bear, stopped production an accident killed a crew member working on the film.

Crew members had placed a bed on the CSX Railroad tracks to shoot a dream sequence for the film. Unexpectedly, a train came by, giving crew members less than a minute to act. According to Variety, members of the crew, including star William Hurt, tried to get the bed off the tracks, but did not have time. Some were hit by debris, and 27 year old Sarah Elizabeth Jones, a camera assistant, was killed.

According to the Associated Press, Joe Gardner, the lead detective on the case, said, “CSX has told me they were aware they were out there, but they did not have permission to be on the train tracks," Gardner told reporters last week. He said that the crew did have permission, however, to film next to the train tracks.

The film’s director, Randall Miller, told authorities that the film crew was there to shoot a movie. Miller’s production company was working with Meddin Studios on the Film. The investigation will continue for several weeks.
