The creator of the popular game Flappy Bird might have taken down the original game but that doesn’t mean similar ones can be created. Flappy Jam was launched only days ago and has nine more days of development left until its Feb. 24 deadline.
As previously reported Flappy Games was taken down Sunday, Feb. 09 by its creator, Dong Nguyen because it was too addictive. As a result unknown independent game developers created Flappy Jams with the same concept to “Make a hard, almost unplayable game; use assets inspired (not ripped) from classics; FLAPPY word or gameplay not mandatory; have fun, be supportive. hate must not win," reported PC Magazine.
Up to 206 games, Flappy Jams was created as a result of all the negative feedback Nguyen received when he took down Flappy Bird. Nguyen received such extreme hate at death threats and suicidal notes on Twitter when the game was taken down.
Flappy Jams follows roughly the same premise of Flappy Bird, with fan’s maneuvering their characters by tapping the screen through a series of obstacles.
"Indie gamedevs are friendly and supportive, envy and teasing should not belong to our community, nor be a cause of suffering," reads the description on Flappy Jam’s official website.
