Five passengers were injured after a flight from Denver to Billings, Mont. encountered some major turbulence on Monday.
According to the Los Angeles Times, the turbulence on a United Airlines flight was so severe that passengers, including a baby, were tossed around the cabin.
The turbulence started when Flight 1676 started to descend into Billings.
CNN reported that the 114 passengers on board began to scream and panic. Many were thrown from their seats and one passenger even hit the ceiling so hard that she cracked the panel.
Despite the violent and sudden shaking, the plane was able to land safely at Billings Logan International Airport.
Three crew members and two passengers on board were transported to area hospitals. Because they move around the cabin so frequently, flight attendants usually get hurt more than passengers when there is serious turbulence, either from being tossed across the isles or crushed by their beverage carts.
The airline said that the United flight safety team is reviewing the incident.
