A 62-year-old man died after being bitten by a rare spider.
The brown recluse spider, which is extremely poisonous, was found in a home in Mulberry, Florida. The man, Ron Reese, was renovating the home when the spider bit him. Since it was just a small bit, he didn’t think anything of it, according to ABC News.
The bite, however, was more than just a minor thing. It reportedly paralyzed half of Reese’s body, according to his father, Bill Reese. The bite would later take his life.
CBS Miami reports that the bite actually took place back in August 2013, but only recently had lethal affects. Reese’s father stated his son spent the last few months in a large amount of pain and was glad that he wasn’t suffering anymore.
“I was glad when he died,” Reese Sr. said. “I said, ‘Thank you, Lord, for getting him out of his misery.”
Residents in the Florida area have been reminded by the Polk County Health Department to get medical attention if they are bitten by a spider in the area, as some of them are lethal.
