Last month, Ben Bernanke stepped down from his position as Chariman of the Federal Reserve. He has taken on a number of new projects, including writing a new book.

His latest work will discuss the Fed’s handling of the economy. According to the Associated Press, the former Princeton professor said, "I want people to understand what we knew, when we knew it, how we made decisions and how we dealt with the enormous economic uncertainty."

Bernanke is no stranger to writing and his work is popular. He wrote Essays on the Great Depression, published in 2000. The new book will include key points in Bernanke’s career beginning in 2002, when he joined the Board of Governors. David Skidmore, one of the Fed press deputies, will be assisting with the project. A Washington insider will be working with the publishers. Attorney Robert Barnett will lead the negotiations. Barnett assisted with the lucrative book deal for Bernanke's predecessor, Alan Greenspan.

According to Reuters, Bernanke started his new job at Brookings while continuing to work on the new book. He was succeeded by Janet Yellen, who currently is serving as the Chairman of the Federal Reserve.
