The X Factor will no longer be featured on the Fox television schedule.
The X Factor has been on the air for three seasons but is being cancelled because of low ratings, Entertainment Weekly reported.
Judge on the show, Simon Cowell, Fox entertainment chairman Kevin Reilly and FremantleMedia North America president of entertainment Trish Kinane all issued statements regarding the cancelation of the show.
The Guardian reported that Cowell would be returning to the U.K. version of the X Factor which has constantly had large ratings and has produced major musical talent across the world.
Cowell returning to the U.K. is the main that has been put into the statements from Fox and FremantleMedia North America.
Fox did have the option to renew X Factor in America but with low ratings and lower playback numbers on the DVR the show was cancelled.
Cowell reflected on his time here in the United States working on his show and said that he enjoyed his time working on both X Factor and American Idol. "I’ve had a fantastic time over the last 12 years, both on The X Factor and American Idol,And apart from being lucky enough to find some amazing talent on the shows, I have always had an incredible welcome from the American public (most of the time!). Last year, for a number of reasons, I had to make a decision to return to the U.K. version of The X Factor in 2014."
He went on to thank Fox and warned American audiences that he would be back soon, with his iconic fashion choices and mean comments along with him.
