Fred Armisen returns to the small screen in the television comedy, Portlandia.

Portlandia is a sketch comedy series created by Fred Armisen, Carrie Brownstein, and Jonathan Krisel. According to the Associated Press, Armisen said, "I love Portland. I love Carrie. "I called her: `What are you up to? Let's come up with some stuff.' I fly out there. And then we did."

Portlandia reveals the upside of Oregon. The unlikely place for a sketch comedy show makes innovative comedy. Last year, the show won a Peabody Award. Armisen was a cast member on SNL from 2002-2013. He appeared on many sit-coms and began shooting Portlandia in 2011. The show features quirky vignettes and smart dialogue. It’s likely that Portlandia will again feature favorite guest stars like Kyle MacLachlan.

Brownstein weighed in Armisen’s subjects, telling the Associated Press, "Fred is less fascinated by the phenomenon and more fascinated by the motivating factors, the character traits of some of the stranger, obsessive people who are putting out more chaos than solutions."

Each season of Portlandia includes 10 episodes. The series is slated to return for season four on IFC later this month.
