Fans of Saturday Night Live have yet another reason to be excited for Weekend Update's Seth Meyer's new Late Night gig: Fred Armisen has been signed on as the leader for Meyer's band!

Former Late Night host Jimmy Fallon is taking his band, The Roots, with him as he moves on to The Tonight Show. Armisen will be the leader for Meyer's new band, the 8G Band, People reports.

The Hollywood Reporter also added that in addition to being an actor, Armisen can play the guitar and the drums, having once been a drummer for late 1980s punk rock band Trenchmouth, as well as a brief stint with The Blue Man Group in the early '90s. Armisen currently has a musical outlet in his IFC show, Portlandia, often performing on the show and during promotional tours with fellow co-star and co-creator Carrie Brownstein.

Portlandia fans need not to worry, though; Meyers tweeted that Armisen "will curate and lead the band, and continue to run it even when he's off shooting Portlandia."
