It's Girl Scout Cookie season! Every year around this time, some of the best cookies ever, go on sell and are sold by the lovely girls of Girl Scouts of the USA. Most of the time, girl scouts set up store in front of grocery stores, gas stations, and shopping malls to sell Samoas, Thin Mints, Do-Si-Dos, etc. One girl had a different idea. She and her mother set up a booth outside of a medical marijuana dispensary.
According to E! Online, 13 year old Danielle Lei who is from San Francisco sold cookies outside of The Green Cross on Monday, which was President's Day. She sold 117 boxes that day.
This is not the first time Lei has sold in front of a medical marijuana dispensary. Her mother, Carol encourages her daughter to sell cookies in different locations so she can be exposed to different environments. She also says that she talks to her daughter about drug use and why some people use marijuana for medical reasons.
"You put it in terms that they may understand," Carol said. "I'm not condoning it, I'm not saying, go out in the streets and take marijuana."
An email was sent to Mashable.com by a staff member at Green Cross explaining why it's a great idea to sell cookies outside of the dispensary.
"It's no secret that cannabis is a powerful appetite stimulant, so we knew this would be a beneficial endeavor for the girls," Holli Bert says. "It's all about location, and what better place to sell Girl Scout cookies than outside a medical cannabis collective?"
