We've seen the teaser and now we get the first official full trailer for Gareth Edwards' Godzilla.
Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures announced a reboot of the Godzilla franchise in 2012 and tapped Gareth Edwards to direct coming off the success of his indie monster movie Monsters. With Roland Emmerich's version a being a critical disappointment reaction to the news of the reboot was mixed. Edwards was a relative unknown and people did not know what to expect.
When the first teaser dropped late last year, excitement began to build(Check it out here!). It seemed like the film has captured the large scale destruction that we expect in a Godzilla picture. The full trailer definitely reinforces that idea. We see how Godzilla leaves his mark on a couple of cities and it seems like our favorite giant monster does a fair amount of traveling.
We also get a few clues about the origin of Godzilla in this film. Bryan Cranston gives a impassioned speech that runs throughout most of the trailer that hints a a government cover up. Ken Watanabe shows up and suggests there may be a link between this monster and the original Godzilla. Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Elizabeth Olsen both make quick appearances in the trailer but I'm sure we'll see more of them in the film itself.
So what's really going? Watch the trailer below and make your best guess. The one thing we do know is that Godzilla is going to be one of the biggest movies of the summer.
Godzilla lumbers into theaters on May 16.
