HBO’s True Detective continues to draw in viewers and the layered, intense crime drama just hit a series high in ratings for its latest episode on Sunday.

The first airing of the show’s sixth episode at 9 p.m. on Sunday drew a stunning 2.6 million total viewers, notes TheWrap. That’s its best numbers since the first episode on Jan. 12, beating the 2.3 million who tuned in for that episode.

HBO aired the episode three times Sunday night and the airing drew a total of 3.6 million viewers, another show record.

True Detective has yet to earn a renewal, even though there is just two episodes left of the first season and it is earning wide acclaim. Stars Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey, who play Louisiana state detectives assigned to a disturbing case, are likely to win awards.

According to Entertainment Weekly, show creator Nic Pizzolatto teased on Twitter recently that the detectives for a potential second season would be women. Pizzolatto also revealed that he considers the last two episodes the season’s final act. Act one consisted of the first three shows, while act two was episodes four through six.

As for the rest of Sunday night, Lena Dunham’s Girls only had 1.3 million total viewers across three airings. Looking hit a series high, but that only means that 749,000 viewers tuned in over three showings.
