An Iowa man was so determined to get a Twix bar out of a vending machine, he used a forklift to try to get it out. While the story could have ended with him happily getting the candy bar and possibly inspiring a Twix commercial, it actually ends with him losing his job.

The Des Moines Register reports that Robert McKevitt did try some conventional routes to try to get his 90-cent candy, like banging the machine and even putting in another dollar. But nothing worked.

“I was, like, ‘Oh, man,’” he told the Register. ““So I put in another dollar, and then it wouldn’t do anything.”

So, he decided to take a forklift and lifted the machine two feet into the air. He then dropped it and, according to state compensation records, did the same thing six times. He got three candy bars out of the machine, but could not do it without getting the attention of his supervisor. McKevitt said he was only trying to get his candy bar, but he was fired a few days later.

According to the Associated Press, McKevitt isn’t going to even receive jobless benefits, since he ignored the interests of his employers. He did not testify at the Dec. 16 hearing.

As for McKevitt, who served in Afghanistan, he says he didn’t actually pick up the machine with the forklift, only using it to put the machine back in place.
