Jake Gyllenhaal and Amy Adams will star in Philip Seymour Hoffman’s Ezekiel Moss, which Hoffman is directing and is a period piece set during Prohibition.

The package is set to go before potential buyers and distributors at the European Film Market in Berlin, during the film festival there, notes Variety. Exclusive Media is handling sales. ScreenDaily first reported the news.

Several producers have already boarded the project. Likely Story’s Anthony Bregman, PalmStar Media Capital’s Kevin Frakes and Merced Media Partners’ Raj Brinder Singh are producing, along with Cathy Schulman of Mandalay Vision.

According to TheWrap, the script was penned by Keith Bunin. Gyllenhaal, who recently impressed with his performance in Prisoners last year, will play a drifter who befriends a young boy with a strange power - he can talk with the dead. Adams will star as the boy’s mother.

Adams has just earned her fifth Oscar nomination, this time for Best Lead Actress in David O. Russell’s American Hustle. She worked with Hoffman in Doubt and The Master, which both earned her Oscar nods as well.

As for Gyllenhaal, his next film is Enemy, which reunites him with Prisoners director Denis Villeneuve. He was nominated for an Oscar for Brokeback Mountain.
