Singer James Taylor is taking a stand against fracking in a television ad for an environmental group.

The singer, known for his soulful song, “Carolina In My Mind,” is speaking out fracking. Fracking is a drilling practice that make is possible to reach natural gas. The General Assembly is looking at fracking and regulations. Who will receive drilling permits is still being decided.

According to the Associated Press, the Natural Resources Defense Council said that people can view the ad with James Taylor beginning on Thursday. The ad will be shown for at least two weeks.

James Taylor is in a long line of celebrities to combat fracking. According to the Huffington Post, Marisa Tomei, Darren Criss, Lance Bass, Daryl Hannah, Amy Smart, Hayden Panettiere, and Wilmer Valderrama have all spoken out against fracking.

Taylor has won a Grammy for Best Pop Vocal Performance for “You’ve Got a Friend,” and Best Country Collaboration With Vocals for “How’s the World Treating You.”

Taylor grew up in North Carolina, claiming Chapel Hill as his hometown. He now lives in Massachusetts.
