John Kerry has said that he will not make another presidential run in 2016.
In an interview with CNN’s Jack Tapper, Kerry put to rest any question about whether he was going to run in two years.
"I'm out of politics. I have no plans whatsoever. This is my last stop," he said.
The former Democratic presidential nominee ran against George W. Bush in 2004, but lost in a very tight and controversial race. He did not run in 2008 when President Barack Obama was elected.
The Huffington Post notes that Kerry was in the Senate for 28 years and was nominated in 2012 for Secretary of State after the seat was vacated by Hillary Clinton. The Senate confirmed him for the position by a 94-3 vote.
The 70-year-old was emphatic that this was indeed it for him.
"I'm going to serve the country in the extraordinarily privileged position the President has given me, the great challenges that I have, and move on," said Kerry.
Now that we know Kerry will not run, the question remains if Clinton and Vice President Joe Biden will.
