A district court raised bail for a Michigan woman who has been charged with dismembering her son.
According to the Macomb Daily, a judge increased Donna Scrivo’s bond from $100,000 to $250,000 on Tuesday.
The judge originally set the St. Clair Shores woman’s bail at $100,000, but prosecutors filed an emergency motion when questions were raised about her finances.
“The people need a very high bond in this base,” Prosecutor Eric Smith said in a statement. “This defendant represents an obvious danger to the community and to herself, and is a significant flight risk.”
Scrivo has been charged with disinterment and mutilation of her adult son’s body.
Authorities believe she dumped bags of his remains along a roadway last week. However, she has not been charged with his murder as officials continue to investigate her.
The Detroit News has reported that the judge who initially granted Scrivo guardianship over her youngest son last May said that he questioned his decision after the allegations came to light.
