American Idol’s season one runner up Justin Guarini is headed to join the cast of the Broadway smash Wicked beginning in February.
According to Broadway, the cast is getting four new cast members, including Guarini, two-time Tony nominee Mary Testa and actresses Christine Dwyer and Jenni Barber. Although Guarini is most well-known for his American Idol stint, his Broadway credits include Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown, Green Day’s American Idiot, and most recently Romeo and Juliet with Orlando Bloom and Condola Rashad.
The Hollywood Reporter also noted the 35 year old is set to perform in Lovesick, a show written by Guarini with music by Ben Folds, Beck and Burt Bacharach. Performances are at 8 p.m. on Feb. 14 and Feb. 15 at Bucks County Playhouse in New Hope, Pennsylvania, just outside his hometown of Doylestown.
Current Wicked stars will have their final performance on February 22. Guarini will join the rest of the new cast members, along with returning star P.J. Benjamin as The Wizard, on February 25.
