Justin Timberlake made his first appearance on The Tonight Show since Jimmy Fallon took over Friday. Obviously, they had to mark the moment with yet another History of Rap segment.
The fifth installment of the ongoing series that Fallon and Timberlake kicked off on Late Night included a wide variety of classic rap tracks. This time, they tackled the theme song to The Fresh Prince of Bel Air, LL Cool J’s “I’m Bad,” Run DMC’s “Beats To The Rhyme” and Tone Loc’s “Wild Thing,” notes Billboard.
They did include some more recent hits during the medley. Timberlake’s “Suit & Tie” collaborator Jay Z got a shout out with “99 Problems” and Drake got a nod with “Started From the Bottom.” Even Kendrick Lamar got mixed in with “Swimming Pools (Drank).” But they went back to Run DMC at the end with “Walk This Way.”
Like many of Fallon’s guests this week, Timberlake didn’t have anything particular to promote, but he is currently touring for The 20/20 Experience. He had to cancel his Wednesday show at Madison Square Garden, but did perform Thursday night, notes E! News. He performed Friday night as well.
Timberlake has had to reschedule his Buffalo show to July 9 due to this week’s cancellation.
