The “I Kissed a Girl” singer, Katy Perry, could possibly be facing a ban on YouTube due to her most recent music video.
As earlier reported by the Jerusalem Post, a petition was launched on Change.org, asking supporters of Islam and other various religions to ask for a removal of Perry’s latest “blasphemous” music video. The petition has received 53,499 signatures as of Feb. 26.
The new video features Perry as an Egyptian princess choosing a suitor. If the men do not satisfy her, she turns them into dust. The first suitor in the video is wearing a pendant with "Allah" on it, which translates to "God." This is written in Arabic, and the pendant is destroyed along with its wearer.
As earlier reported by Daily Mail, the man, Shazad Iqbal, who started the petition, is a supporter of Islam and believes that the Arabic pendant is being disintegrated.
“The video is considered as highly controversial to its viewers as a result of its portrayal of blasphemy,” Iqbal said.
