Kraft Foods will be removing some artificial preservatives from its Kraft Singles cheese slices.

The Chicago Tribune has reported that the ingredient the company said its removing is sorbic acid from some of the American and White American varieties. In turn, Kraft will be adding a natamycin, and an unnamed ingredient for food safety.

“We know families today want convenient foods that have no artificial preservatives and a simpler, more recognizable ingredient list, and Kraft is working to deliver more of these options for some of our most beloved brands,” said a senior associate brand manager in a statement.

CBS News noted that back in October the company announced it would remove artificial coloring from many Mac & Cheese varieties.

This change comes on the heels of the Subway announcement that the company is taking out a chemical in the restaurant’s bread called Azodiacarbonamide.

Both changes will be welcomed by many Americans who are trying to be more health conscious and are tired of seeing so many added preservatives in their food.
