To celebrate the 30th anniversary of Ghostbusters, Lego announced at the 2014 toy fair that they will be releasing a small set to commemorate the momentous occasion.

Both Lego fanatics and fans of the film have long since been awaiting the approval of this project. It was green-lighted thanks toLego Cuusoo, a platform designed to allow the public to submit Lego ideas and vote on which they would most like to see. The toy company then reviews the results.

This is the first Ghostbusters set Lego has ever released. It was also in competition with another Ghostbuster design idea, which also met the needed 10,000 votes. Lego however decided to release the anniversary set, as it made the necessary votes before the other idea.

The set will consist of the ectomobile “ecto-1”, and all four ghostbusting heroes, complete with proton packs, reported USA Today.

Last summer, Lego released their Back to the Future set, which while generally appreciated by fans, some film fans were upset with the way Lego had designed the DeLorean, according to Gizmodo. Fortunately for this set, Lego went with aesthetics and detail, and the ectomobile is spot on to the original.

Brent Waller, who put the idea for the set on Cuusoo, had this to say to Lego, "As a child I would recreate Ghostbusters out of Lego. I had a very primitive Ecto-1, Ecto-1A and the Firehouse as well as all of the main characters with 'Classic Space' air-tanks for Proton Packs. As an adult rediscovering my love of Lego, recreating it now was a way of recapturing that unbridled creativity of my youth."

The set is to be released this June (as the movie was released June 8th, 1984), and is said to cost $49.99. Which is worth the price to have your very own Lego Bill Murray.
