The hunt is on for a man-eating tigress that has killed 10 people and stricken panic throughout northern Indian villages.

According to Outside Magazine, authorities in Uttar Pradesh, India, have issued a shoot-to-kill order for the female tiger. The four-year-old Bengal has attacked villagers of all ages, within an 80-mile stretch.

CNN noted that the order was put in place even though hunting tigers is illegal in the country.

The tigress has been on a killing spree since December and now officials are fed up and started an active all-out manhunt for her.

“You have to be very careful because it's not just a tiger it's a man eater," said hunter Rana Pratap Singh. "If a tiger attacks you, you stand no chance because with one swipe it can crush your skull."

It remains a mystery why the tiger’s favorite entrée is humans, but there are approximately 1700 tigers left in the wild and if hunters have their way, there will be one less.
