Police have identified a body to be that of missing swimmer Billy Jeudi in Boynton Beach Inlet.
Jeudi, 23, went missing early Thursday morning. He had gone swimming with a female friend when he vanished in the water behind her, WPTV reports. His friend immediately notified the police, which began an intense search involving helicopters and boats.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman, Teri Barbera, stated that Jeudi’s body was found floating in the Intracoastal Waterway late Friday, over 24 hours later after he was first reported missing.
According to WPBF, Jeudi was likely caught in a strong south current which caused him to drown. In a statement sent out on Saturday, the PBSO said that it would appear there was no foul play involved.
The Palm Beach Post reports that this is the second time in the last month that a swimmer has gotten caught in strong currents. The inlet is known for being narrow and having strong rushing water.
