Facebook co-founder Mark Zuckerburg and his wife, Priscilla Chan, have been named the most generous philanthropists of 2013.

According to the Associated Press, in December, the pair donated 18 million shares of the Facebook stock, valued at more than $970 million, to a nonprofit organization.

On Monday, The Chronicle of Philanthropy reported that the donation was the largest charitable gift on the public record last year and that Zuckerberg and Chan are the youngest people ever to make the list.

Zuckerberg is 29-years-old and Chan is 28.

The Top 50 list includes couples and individuals, making up a total of 69 people.

The Internet entrepreneur met Chan in 2003 when he was a sophomore in college and she was a medical student. The two began dating and married in 2012.

The Facebook CEO owns about 500 million shares of Facebook stock. At $61 a share, his stake is worth approximately $31 billion. The 10-year-old social-networking site is worth $150 billion.
