Miguel explains that he is sorry for his DUI conviction last year.

NME reports that Miguel, who was arrested last August in Los Angeles for driving under the influence after being pulled over for speeding, has apologized for his conviction.

"Driving with alcohol in my system was reckless," Miguel said in a statement. "I'm really sorry and I'm taking responsibility for this mistake."

Miguel pled no contest and was sentenced to informal probation for three years and must take an alcohol education class. He was also fined $360.

Billboard reports that Miguel is currently working on his next album.

His last album, Kaleidoscope Dream (2012), which contained the Top 20 hit "Adorn," was commercially successful. He explained that his next album is going well, and he knows how he wants it to turn out.

"It's coming great," Miguel said. "I have a very clear vision, and I have a very clear goal. I know what I want, and I'm getting there."

Miguel spent some studio time with J. Cole and Jesse Ware, and is excited to express his new style and ideas.
