Organizers of a spelling bee in Kansas City. Mo. ran out of words for two very bright competitors and were forced to stop and reschedule the match.

According to KCTV, organizers ran out of words on Saturday after Kush Sharma and Sophia Hoffman went 66 rounds of correctly spelling out every word given to them.

Sharma, a seventh-grader, attends Frontier School of Innovation and Hoffman, a fifth-grader, attends Highland Park Elementary. The two were the only ones left standing after 19 rounds.

The late rounds pushed the spelling bee to run for five hours, but the kids withstood the competition.

“It was overall really mentally and physically challenging,” said Sharma.

"It was really fun because we both had lots of words and they were all challenging," Hoffman added.

The Kansas City Star noted that since the students went through the approved 300 word list without a mishap, a rematch would be scheduled for early March.

The winner of the competition will represent Jackson County in the Scripps National Spelling Bee championship.
