Rapper Nicki Minaj is being sued by "wig guru" Terrance Davidson.
Nicki Minaj is famous for her image as well as her rapping. The pint-size star frequently sports crazy outfits, makeup, and elaborate wigs. Wig designer, Terrance Davidson, created several of the most memorable wigs in Nicki's collection including the “Pink Upper Bun Wig,” the “Fox Fur Wig,” the “Pink High Top Wig,” the “SuperBass Wig,” and the “Half Blonde-Half Pink Wig,” reports Time .
Davidson and Minaj worked together to change her image from street rapper to pop superstar before the release of her 2010 best selling Pink Friday album. However, Davidson is now suing because according to Time reports, Minaj supposedly stole designs from Davidson and then sold and marketed them as part of her own wig line.
Davidson's lawyer Christopher Chestnut says, “Her lawyers may complicate it, but we don’t need to get into intellectual-property law. This is basic American morality. Nicki Minaj lied to this man and cheated him.” Davidson also claims that Minaj discouraged him from pursuing his own reality television series as it would mess up the partnership plans the two had together. Reuters reports that Nicki's team then "took active steps to isolate Mr. Davidson and preclude him from the notoriety he deserved for his wig designs." Davidson was then dropped from her team in 2012, sans reality deal.
"Super Bass" star Minaj will owe Terrance Davidson up to $30 million if she loses the case. Her line of wigs is available on her site .
