The Baseball Hall of Fame will be celebrating their 75th anniversary this year. Legendary folk singer, Paul Simon, has been added to the event utilizing music, film, and video to honor baseball.
Hall President Jeff Idelson says he "cannot think of a more fitting musician to pair with the Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra."
According to the Associated Press, the 12-time Grammy Award winner and longtime baseball fan will perform August 2 at Clark Sports Center in Cooperstown, N.Y. According to the Hall, the Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra and former New York Yankees outfielder Bernie Williams also will perform.
Paul Simon will sing three songs at the concert. Paul Simon is a singer/ songwriter known for his folk music. He was half of the performing duo, Simon & Garfunkel. His popular songs, “The Sound of Silence,” “Mrs. Robinson,” “Bridge Over Troubled Water.” His albums include The Paul Simon Songbook, Hearts and Bones, Graceland, Songs from The Capeman, Surprise, and So Beautiful or So What.
Fans of Simon will also be able to see him on tour. Simon will begin a tour with Sting to North American cities through March 16, according to Billboard.
