Pharrell Williams is facing allegations that he plagiarized another one of his songs.
The Grammy winner with the huge hat was recently lashed at by Franz Ferdinand front man Alex Kapranos on Twitter according to The Huffington Post.
Apparently there are similarities between the tracks, “Can’t Rely on You,” by Paloma Faith but produced by Pharrell and Franz Ferdinand’s hit song from 2004, “Take Me Out.”
Kapranos took to Twitter on Jan. 31 to say, “Hey @Pharrell – I love your tunes. If you want to borrow a riff, just ask…” and linked the video to his song right after.
Regardless of such offenses usually resulting in a lawsuit, Kapranos was vague about the possibility of the producer actually copying the song and had a sarcastically lighthearted tone regarding the situation.
This is not the first time that Pharrell has been accused of plagiarizing songs. Last year, Robin Thicke’s hit song, “Blurred Lines” was the target of Marvin Gaye’s family because they accused the producer of ripping off the 1977 release of “Got to Give It Up.”
According to RollingStone, just recently did the family of the late R&B singer and Sony settle the lawsuit.
