The investigation into actor Philip Seymour Hoffman’s death have lead to the arrests of four people, including two suspected heroin dealers, in Lower Manhattan.
Investigators had a search warrant for 302 Mott Street, where bags of heroin were recovered in the apartments, sources told The New York Times. The investigation into Hoffman’s death on Sunday lead investigators to the building.
Hoffman died of a drug overdose and there were reportedly 50 bags of heroin found in his apartment. He had a needle in his arm and some bags read “Ace of Spades” or “Ace of Hearts.”
The New York Post reports that two suspects - Robert Vineberg, 57, and Thomas Kushman 48 - were charged with felony drug possession. Max Rosenblum, 22, and Juliana Luchkiw, 22, were charged with misdemeanor drug possession. Police had received a tip that Hoffman bought heroin there a few months ago.
Police found 350 bags of heroin at the apartments, sources said.
Sources for TMZ said that the informant was a heroin user who claimed to be using the same dealer Hoffman did. The dealer would use another dealer who sold dangerous, cheap heroin and Hoffman would end up getting heroin from that batch.
Hoffman, who won an Oscar for Capote, was only 46. A private funeral for friends and family only has been planned. A memorial service will be organized for later this month.
