A drought has occurred in California, and it marks the worst drought the state has endured in more than 100 years. Obama visited farmers and ranchers in the Fresno area on Friday.

According to The Associated Press, Obama will give $160 million in federal aid to the farmers. This will include $100 million in the farm bill that was passed last week. This bill covers the loss of livestock.

Obama will create a $1 billion program for "climate resilience" as part of the Obama administration's budget request, according to NY Times. Obama will ask Congress for the $1 billion.

Obama will also announce that his administration will move several million dollars to the drought aid from existing programs.

Republicans are not expected to support additional spending by the government, but Obama will try to appeal to their support for farmers and rural areas.

California producers will receive $100 million in livestock disaster assistance, and another $60 million will be used for California food banks through the Agriculture Department's Emergency Food Assistance Program.
