Folk singer Donovan and the Kinks' frontman Ray Davies lead the pack of musicians due to be inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2014.
Rolling Stone reports that the other 2014 inductees will be Graham Gouldman, Mark James, and Jim Weatherly, who have penned hits for the likes of Gladys Knight and the Pips, Elvis, and the Yardbirds.
Donovan, a 67 year-old Glasgow native, was prominent in the 1960s, performing such hits as "Sunshine Superman," "Mellow Yellow," and "Hurdy Gurdy Man."
Davies was a founding member of prolific British Invasion band The Kinks, along with his brother Dave Davies. Although both brothers wrote songs, Ray Davies was responsible for most of their catalog, and their largest hits, including "You Really Got Me," "Lola," and "All Day and All of the Night."
As Yahoo News notes, both artists continue to release new albums, although Ray Davies no longer operates with the Kinks, but releases solo work.
The songwriters will be inducted into the Hall of Fame, increasingly dominated by rock musicians, on June 12. The occasion will take place during a ceremony at New York City's Marriott Marquis Hotel.
