Universal Pictures' Ride Along keeps chugging at the box office as the Kevin Hart comedy tied with new Zac Efron-led film That Awkward Moment on Friday.
Both comedy films earned $3.9 million to start the Super Bowl weekend, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Though both films took in the same amount, projections have Ride Along likely earning about $12 million, which would be good enough for first place as Awkward Moment will likely do $10.1 million.
If Ride Along manages $12 million, the film will have earned an impressive $92.7 million domestically. Though the Efron, Michael B. Jordan and Miles Teller film is only expected to earn $10.1 million, that isn't too bad for a film that only cost $8 million.
Disney's Frozen continues to pull in audiences at the theaters and earned $2.2 million, which could mean the film makes $9.7 for the entire weekend. The animated film has already grossed $353 million domestically.
Variety reports that Jason Reitman's new film Labor Day, starring Kate Winslet and Josh Brolin, only earned $1.9 million for Friday. Current projections have the film taking in $5 million over the weekend.
