More filmmakers and stars from classic films have been added to the 2014 TCM Classic Film Festival in Hollywood. Shirley Jones, Kim Novak and Ryan O’Neal are just the headliners of another strong group.
Jones will be on hand to present a new restoration of the 1955 Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II musical Oklahoma!. The film will be shown in a 4K presentation that Twentieth Century Fox, Fotokem, East Point Audio and Chase Audio by Deluxe painstakingly went over, going back to the original soundtrack and 65mm Todd-AO elements.
Novak, who is best known for Alfred Hitchcock’s Vertigo, will be on hand for a screening of the 1958 bewitching comedy classic Bell, Book And Candle, which also stars James Stewart. O’Neal will present Peter Bogdanovich’s 1973 hit Paper Moon.
Director William Friedkin will be on hand for the first U.S. screening of the restoration of Sorcerer. The 1977 cult film had been previously unavailable, but is finally poised to reach a wider audience with a Blu-ray release.
Director Ira Wohl will present his 1979 documentary Best Boy, while Albert Maysles will be there for 1975’s Grey Gardens.
Martin Scorsese's frequent editor, Thelma Schoonmaker will be on hand as a special guest at Club TCM.
Mel Brooks, Maureen O’Hara and Richard Dreyfuss are among the guests added last week. The festival takes place in Hollywood and runs from April 10-13.
