Jonathan Levine has had two successes in the difficult world of film comedy with 2011's 50/50 and last year's Warm Bodies. Now, he's seeking to tap into the chemistry that was arguably the best part of the former film by recasting stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Seth Rogen.

Ain't It Cool News reports that the still-untitled feature will be a Christmas-themed comedy that casts the pair of actors as close pals once again.

The film centers on a group of three friends who revive their tradition of going out on the town--in this case, New York City--for Christmas Eve. Rogen and Gordon-Levitt are clearly two of the pals.

According to Deadline, the final member of the trio of friends is yet to be cast.

Levine has a solid track record, and Rogen and Gordon-Levitt made a formidable duo, capable of both comedic and dramatic turns, in 50/50.

The bare bones premise doesn't sound like something particularly original, it could be great in the right hands, and provided the third star fits in well. Hopefully Levine can strike that difficult blend of comedy and sentimentality that went into 50/50.

The film is set to begin production this summer.
