Actor and comedienne Seth Rogen opened up a Senate committee on Labor, Health, Human Services, Education and Related Agencies hearing in Washington DC and he talked about his family’s battles with Alzheimer’s disease.
According to ABC News Rogen, 31, started dating his girlfriend, Lauren Miller who is now his wife and found out that her mother, Adele had Alzheimer’s disease. Adele’s parents both had the disease as well.
Rogen was at the Senate committee to support legislation to increase funding for Alzheimer’s research, according to TMZ.
He opened up the committee by saying to Senator Tom Harkin, “I don’t know if you know me at all. You told me you haven’t seen Knocked Up, chairman. So, it’s a little insulting.”
Rogen admitted that he didn’t know much about Alzheimer’s disease, except that it was something that “only really, really old people got.”
He revealed that his mother -in -law forgot how to speak, dress herself, feed herself by the age of 60.
“I came here today for a few reasons,” Rogen said. “One, I’m a huge House of Cards fan. I just marathoned the whole thing, had to be here. Two, is to say, people need more help. I’ve personally seen the massive amounts of financial strain this disease causes and if the American people ever decide to reject genitalia type comedy, I will no longer be able to afford it.”
Rogen and his wife founded, “Hilarity for Charity,” where they inform teens about Alzheimer’s.
