After being ironically bitten by a snake, a snake-handling Kentucky pastor who appeared on the reality TV show, “Snake Salvation,” passed away.

The first responders were called around 8:30 p.m. on Saturday regarding a victim suffering from a snake bite at a church, according to Kentucky.com

Once the ambulance arrived on the scene, they were told that Jamie Coots decided to head home. They contacted Coots at home but he refused to receive any medical attention. The emergency workers left at around 9:00 p.m. only to return an hour later—finding Coots dead.

In January 2013, Coots was caught moving two copperheads and three rattlesnakes through Knoxville, Tenn., for his church, according to Washington Post

Wildlife officials in Tenn. commandeered the snakes, resulting in a guilty plea from Coots. He was given one year of probation, only to find a worse fate a little over a year later.
