Producers Mark Burnett and Roma Downey have had scenes of Satan cut out of the upcoming film Son of God over controversy involving President Barack Obama.

The problem was that the actor who portrayed the devil looked fairly similar to Obama, according to The Hollywood Reporter. "It gives me great pleasure to tell you that the devil is on the cutting-room floor. This is now a movie about Jesus, the son of God, and the devil gets no more screen time," Downey said.

The controversy over the devil looking like the president cropped up last year while the miniseries The Bible was airing on The History Channel. The network and the producing couple denied the similarities then. Instead of encountering a repeat situation, they decided it was best to cut the scenes.

Though the miniseries episode was focused on Jesus, everyone was interested in the devil, which Downey noted it surprised her. "The next day, when I was sure everyone would only be talking about Jesus, they were talking about Satan instead."

TheWrap reports that Son of God is a reworked version of the hit miniseries, down to two hours from 10 hours.

Son of God hits theaters on Feb. 28.
