While everyone was paying tribute to the great Harold Ramis this week, someone at Sony was actually thinking about the future of the never-going-to-happen Ghostbusters III. A report suggests that the studio is still hoping to make the film and adjustments will be made to the script since Ramis’ death.
Ivan Reitman, who has been linked to the project as far back as 2010, is set to meet with Sony about the film, reports The Hollywood Reporter. Ramis was set to make a brief appearance in the film, which is said to be centered on a ‘new generation’ of Ghostbusters. Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd would also make cameos.
But even if Ramis was only supposed to have a small part, his death on Monday will still loom over the production. Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky (who both worked on The Office) will have to make adjustments to their script.
Before Ramis’ death, the possibility of Ghostbusters III ever happening was still in question. Murray’s involvement was always questionable and Akroyd appeared to be the only member of the original cast really interested in doing it.
Ramis co-wrote the two Ghostbusters films, which were released in 1984 and 1989.
