Friday night, a 4.1 magnitude earthquake hit South Carolina, with the epicenter only a few miles away from the city of Edgefield.
WKRB reports that the U.S. Geological Survey estimates the depth of the earthquake to be about three miles.
Edgefield has a population of 4,750 residents, but no injuries or damage have been reported, an emergency services dispatcher told the site. Though the quake wasn't strong enough to cause any accidents or damages, it was still felt by people living over 160 miles away, such as in Atlanta, Ga.
According to CNN, people seemed to take the quake news fairly calmly. Someone even tweeted, "Earthquake ... don't even think about canceling school. My KIDS are going to school next week if they have to sit in the parking lot."
South Carolina is hit with about 15 to 20 quakes a year, with this latest one being the 13th over the past year. Quakes that hit are usually mild, with the 4.1 on Friday night being the strongest to hit the state since 2002, when a 4.4 quake struck.
