Eight people were killed and many are still trapped inside a Gyeongju, South Korea Mauna Ocean Resort building that partially collapsed on Monday.

The Sydney Morning Herald reports that the building was holding a concert for about 450 celebrating college students.

Of those pulled to safety from the building, about 73 were hurt and 15 were seriously injured. S. Korean news agency Yonhap has said that though the body count is currently at eight, it could grow as rescue efforts continue and more of the building explored.

A student talked to YTN news and said, "The ceiling came crashing down at the front near the stage." They added, "Then pandemonium broke out and everyone started rushing towards the exits, shouting and screaming."

The cause of the partial collapse is being blamed on snow, according to fire officials, notes BBC News. Slowed rescue efforts for those still trapped inside is also being put on the poor weather.

It is believed that about 10 people, of the initial 50 reported stuck inside, remain trapped inside the building awaiting rescue efforts.
