Luckily for stamp collectors, Steve Jobs will soon be the face of a new U.S. postage stamp along with other American heroes.
In a new leaked report from the Washington Post, Jobs will be immortalized along with several other pop-culture induced images for 2014 and 2015.
For 2014, rock singers Janis Joplin and guitarist Jimi Hendrix will be featured on a stamp along with Wilt Chamberlain, Harvey Milk and celebrity chefs. James Brown, Johnny Carson and a new Elvis Presley stamp will be released in 2015.
Although this list has been publically released, Susan McGowan, the Postal Service’s executive director for stamp service and corporate licensing, said that the stamps could be subject to change at any given time.
The new stamp collections are an initiative to appeal to the younger collectors and an attempt to gain more young people.
On the USPS’s Facebook page, McGowan said that with the new pop-culture styles, the stamp program will, “attract new eyeballs” and “keep the American public engaged.”
“It’ll be very interesting to see what the American public thinks of the stamps under consideration,” she added. “I’m sure people are going to be vocal about it.”
Many of the stamps have been designed and are currently in progress while some other ideas are awaiting approval.
