A suspected hazing death at Baruch College in New York has been ruled a homicide by the assigned coroner.
Chen "Michael" Deng was in the Pennsylvania Pocono Mountains with others and suffered from injuries that several people had inflicted upon him, reports Reuters.
He was trying to join the fraternity Pi Delta Psi and took part in a hazing ritual in the mountains with about 30 people in December.
According to ABC News, Deng was allegedly blindfolded and had to carry a 20 pound bag of sand. While carrying the sand, he was then repeatedly tackled by others in the fraternity.
While being tackled, Deng hit his head and members of the fraternity took him into a nearby house. Instead of calling for help, some looked online for information about his problems. He was eventually taken to the hospital, but by then it was too late.
It is unclear how many present at the hazing, many of whom tried to hide their fraternity affiliation, will be charged with Deng's death.
