The Virginia State Police announced that the remains that were found in Virginia earlier this week have been positively identified as those of police Captain Kevin Quick.

The officer, who went missing just over a week ago, had been reported gone after he didn’t show up to a friend’s house last Friday.

According to CNN, five have been charged in connection to Quick’s death. Authorities have yet to explain anything in relation to Quick’s remains or disappearance except for that the body was found Thursday in Goochland County in a wooded location. The cause of death has also yet to have been released.

The News & Advance reports that the first court appearance of the suspects will be on Monday. At least two of those who are involved have been previously convicted of felonies.

At this time, there have been no connections placed between the suspects and Quick. USA Today also reported that no weapons have been found at this time.
